Aleppo-Armenian director Avo Kaprielian’s film “Homes without Doors” has received the grand prize at the 34th Torino Film Festival.

Hayern Aysor, citing Kantsasar Weekly, reports that the festival’s jury praised Avo’s film as the best international documentary film, especially taking into consideration the fact that Avo had managed to present the tragedy of the Syrian war from his balcony and stress the fact that the Arabs and Armenians of Syria are victims to the barbaric acts.

The festival featured ten films by Turkish, German, Greek, Dutch, Argentine and other filmmakers.

Avo is dedicating this film to Aleppo and states that “Aleppo is bleeding in the lap of its mother Syria”, adding that this prize is simply one step towards achieving justice that the Armenians have been aspiring for a century.

Avo also affirms the following: “Armenians often stress the fact that they will never experience a second genocide, but unfortunately, today, not only the people of Syria, but also the people of Iraq and Palestine are being subject to genocide.”
