The order signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to which the information on military-technical cooperation between Russia and other countries will be considered a state secret may cause unpleasant surprises for Armenia. In an interview with “Aravot”, former NKR Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan said that the military-technical cooperation between the countries can develop in other directions apart from the supply of arms. He warned, “We need to be especially attentive to the Russian-Azerbaijani such kind of cooperation that foresees the establishment and development of joint productions of weapons and other types of products of military importance in Azerbaijan as very unpleasant surprises can be caused to us here.”
There are fears that after this decision, Russia may sell weapons of a greater volume to Azerbaijan because the information in numbers on the volume may not be accessible to the public by considering it a military secret. In this regards, Mr. Melikyan said, “As for the possible adding the volumes of weapons sold to Aliyev’s regime by Moscow and the expansion of the list, indeed, the danger is there too, however, in my opinion, receiving information on such supply will not be connected to great difficulties even in the case of categorizing the transactions made by Russia in this industry among the state secrets.”
