The Center for European Studies presented the research on “Comparative Analysis of the Index of Democracy Level in the context of Human Rights and Democratization (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and Moldova)”. By the index of democracy, Armenia ranks the 3rd among 9 countries under research after Moldova and Georgia. “Moldova is the leading place then comes Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan ranks the last horizon. The latter has poor results by the indexes of political, civil and media freedom. Azerbaijan also showed a high level of corruption,” said Arusyak Alexanyan, the editor of the book, the expert of the YSU Center for European Studies, in an interview with Aravot.am.
Referring to Armenia, she said that the democracy index in our country for 2000-2013 was qualified as high but the index has gradually shown instability. “In 2015, the index of democracy had a deep fall due to social, economic and partly political indicators,” said Arusyak Alexanyan. Note that this research was a similar third report that was compiled by the experts of the YSU Center for European Studies.
