“We are closely following the implementation of reform programs of the new government in Armenia. If these reforms are conducted, they will bring a significant contribution to the economy in terms of attracting investments,” – said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK in Armenia, H.E. Ms. Judith Margaret Farnworth, at the “Article 3” club, in response to one of the questions of the journalist of how favorable is Armenia’s economic environment for the investments. “The international donor community, including the EU, have already announced that we are ready to contribute to the efforts of reforms initiated by Armenia,” said the UK Ambassador, adding that the British Embassy is also trying to assist.
“Any country, local or international, wants to attract investments, they must in any case have confidence in the country’s economy. We are making specific steps in this direction, for example, we are helping the mining industry to become more transparent to increase the level of confidence. We are also working with the government to see how we can contribute to the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy. We are helping to establish ties between the Armenian IT enterprises and the UK companies. We are trying to connect specific individuals or businesses together but we are working towards more support in reformation of policy in the global sense,” she said.
