Karen Karapetyan.  “They give me advice wherever they come across on my way”

December 07,2016 15:01

On December 5, the meeting of Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan with the representatives of media was very active and in a sincere atmosphere.  And there were many verbal semi-joking “skirmishes” between the journalists and the prime minister. Let us cite a few examples.  “When you just an aggressive question, you wake up,” said the Prime Minister to the editor of NewsBook.  Earlier, the following dialogue had taken place between them.  “The entrepreneur must do the same thing in Sweden and Armenia, while should the approaches of the prime ministers of Sweden and Armenia towards the entrepreneur be the same or not? – asked the NewsBook editor.

“What is the difference in the approaches of the prime ministers of Armenia and Sweden? Explain it to me, and I may correct myself,” responded Mr. Karapetyan.  “To be honest, I am not so much familiar with the approaches of the prime minister of Sweden and yours,” said the editor.  “Well, then why are you asking this question, – said the Prime Minister with a smile, – Tell me what the Swedish prime minister is doing and I will try doing the same.” The prime Minister answered the question asked in the Russian language by the editor-in-chief of the “Golos Armenia” in Armenian.  “I will answer in Armenian so that people would not tell that Putin has sent me or the “Gazprom” has appointed….” explained Karen Karapetyan.

To the question of the broadcaster of “Before the Mirror” program, Karen Karapetyan said that he is having private meetings with Gagik Tsarukyan but he has not discussed the issue of his return to the politics.  “What questions did you discuss? – inquired the economic commentator of “Haykakan Zhamanak” (Armtimes), – the major gas stations are owned by him, are these questions discussed with him?”  “Hayk, what do you think, should I always talk about gas when meeting with people?”  “Well, you have talked about it for fifteen years,” replied Hayk Gevorgyan.  “Well, I’m tired, hey man,” responded Karen Karapetyan, – I am t-i-r-e-d of talking about it.”  We inquired to know whether he has met with Putin in addition to Tsarukyan.  “Regularly” – mentioned Karen Karapetyan.  And then corrected, “No, of course.”

A similar answer he gave when he was asked what surprised him during this tenure.  He gave a negative answer that he could be surprised by lazy officials.  To the clarification of “Have you met before?, he responded, “Regularly”.  With regard to his enrollment to the RPA party, when “Aravot” at the same time noted that the former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan became a member of the RPA party only four years later, Karen Karapetyan answered without opening the brackets, “Tigran Sargsyan was in a little different environment, he could afford such a luxury to himself.”  Incidentally, he was unexpectedly sincere on the following response too, “After becoming a member of the RPA party, what do you think, will your rating fall or not?”  “I think, yes.”  But the prime minister’s following confession gave rise to the most impetuous reaction.  He speaking about the fact that some of his assistants are working on voluntary basis, added that the advisers are even more, “I have so many advisers among Armenians… They give me advice wherever they come across on my way.”
