Official celebration of the 20 years of Armenian poetry translated into Greek organized by the Greek Writers’ Association

Greek Writers’ Association organizes official celebration of the completion of 120 years of Armenian poetry translated into Greek, in collaboration with the Hellenic-Armenian Studies Center. The event will take place at GWA’s main hall at 6.30 p.m. on Monday December 12.

For the first time in the history of the Armenian Community of Greece, the Greek Writers’ Association is doing us the honor of organizing an official celebration of the completion of 120 years of Armenian poetry translated into Greek.

The participants in the event, which is going to take place at GWA’s main hall at 6.30 p.m. on Monday December 12, include the current president of GWA, Mr. Kostas Karousos, former presidents Messrs   Pavlos Nathanael and Avgerinos Andreou. Actors, Frosso Zagoreou, Dinos Pontikopoulos and Haig Kassardjian will recite poems by famous Armenian poets  (Nalbandian, Patkanian, Siamanto, Varoujan, Isahakian, Paruyr Sevak, Shiraz etc.) translated into Greek. A short history of the Armenian poetry that has been translated into Greek will be presented by writer Joseph (Sifis) Kassesian. Athens University professor Mr. Hampig Maroukian will deliver a welcome speech. This is the second of a series of seven events dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Hamidian Massacres.
