“Inviting” balconies and the memory of red lanterns

December 10,2016 15:00

The Pablo Picasso Museum is located in one of the spectacular districts of Barcelona, in the ancient 15th-century castle Berenger de Aguilera.  The district, however, is not only proclaimed by Picasso.

On the way to the museum, you can come across to this unique balcony with the statues of naked women. In the cozy and narrow street “embracing” this balcony, perhaps once had red lanterns turned on.  There are no more women on this street suggesting pleasure for money, however, the “inviting” balcony still retains the memory of the red light street.  Anyway, at least the tourists are not passing indifferently by this balcony, sometimes, there is even a queue of people to photograph it.
