Republican Party of Armenia
This is the first political parties of the Republic of Armenia after the independence. The founder and the leader of the party was the political prisoner of the Soviet Union, Ashot Navasardyan, whose Nzhdeh-devotion become the reason to make the ideology of Garegin Nzhdeh the basis of the ideology of the Republicans.
Initially, headed by Ashot Navasardyan, the Republican Party was a pronounced opposition party but shortly, in the period of the second government, headed by the same Ashot Navasardyan, the Republican Party became a pro-government party, thus ensuring its permanent seats in the National Assembly.
Here’s how Galust Sahakyan’s, Andranik Margaryan’s Tigran Torosyan’s and other Republicans’ political career began. After the sudden and unexpected death of Ashot Navasardyan, many people were thinking that the Republican Party will weaken but the opposite happened. Because soon, Vazgen Sargsyan became the leader of the Republican Party.

We do not intend to write the history of the Republican Party of Armenia for it will require years and volumes to write the history of this political party. And in addition, the history of this political party is veiled by quite opaque mystery veil.
Anyway. Even after October 27 and the death of Vazgen Sargsyan, it seemed that the history of this political party is over but actually the Republicans moved ahead. Tigran Torosyan became the Speaker of the National Assembly and Andranik Margaryan – a Prime Minister of Armenia.
After the death of Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, the history of this political party did not end. Because Serzh Sargsyan became the leader of this party. And he is in power until today. And until now, the RPA has the absolute power in Armenia. During the tenure under the leadership of Serzh Sargsyan, no significant and major events has happened in the Republican party, unless, of course, we mention the concert in the Republic Square and the history of the balloons, the fire on the roof of the political party building and so on.
The biggest event in RPA happened recently which if desired can be called as significant. As well unexpected. As well as stunning. The unexpected thing was not Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s enrollment to the Republican Party but the Prime Minister’s immediate followers’ newly becoming Republicans all of a sudden. The fact that the Prime Minister’s subordinate ministers, some of whom assured us that they would never be a party member, will immediately follow the Prime Minister’s example and will immediately become Nzhdeh followers, it was not a surprise to anyone, but when in one day, new 7000 Nzhdeh-followers popped up, it was a surprise to everyone. Exactly 7000 people, not more, not less. Just in one day. Who counted so quickly?
If 7000 people in one day following Karen Karapetyan became Nzhdeh-followers, then according to the rational logic, in these days this number should have been multiplied at least by ten. Has it become tenfold or not? Those who counted exactly 7000 people in one day must know the exact number as of today too.
As for the Nzhdehism and Nzhdeh ideology. It is eventually known to everybody that Garegin Nzhdeh is the sole and undisputed leader of the ideology of the Republicans in Armenia. It seemed that after the death of Ashot Navasardyan, the dosage of Nzdehism will become less in the Republican Party of Armenia. But exactly the opposite happened. It happened what usually happens: the lesser is the ideological commitment, the more is the ideology and ideological talkativeness. And the most talkative are those who have an elementary knowledge about Garegin Nzhdeh and his importance. Instead, they know the most important thing. They know that today being a Nzhdeh-follower and Republican is beneficial. Incidentally, not only in Armenia. Donald Trump is also a Republican, isn’t he?
