The symphony “Centuria S-Quark” by Stas Namin was presented by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan) as a part of Stas Namin’s creative days on December 19 at 19:00 at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.
To note, the famous musician, composer, artist, director and producer, Stas Namin is celebrating his 65th anniversary.
Speaking about the symphony, Namin has confessed he pondered over the structure of human civilization, while creating his one of best works. According to him, Homo sapiens regretfully lacks collective intelligence. “Individual wisdom restrains our ability to display system approach to the development of civilization, as a result of that it is exposed to self-destruction. That is to say, apocalypse seems imminent, due to the absence of collective wisdom unlike the bees that have created an entire scheme for the sake of preservation of their civilization,” Namin reasoned, adding bees are a serious strength when they are taken collectively.
Namin says he has tried to reproduce this scheme in his work. The famous musician has praised the Orchestra, saying he was surprised to discover it.
“I am happy for this excellent orchestra and its incredible and talented conductor performing my symphony,” Namin has said.
He has stressed that his mother, present at the concert, had graduated from Yerevan State Conservatory, and continued her studying in Moscow with quality music always playing in their home, Shostakovich, Khachatryan and Penderetsky.
“There was a time I was engaged with rock music, swinging away from the classical music. However, since 1980 I have been trying to create something in the symphonic genre. I established the Moscow Symphony Orchestra (MSO), that was conducted for some period by Ohan Duryan, who conquered Moscow with his talent,” Namin recalled, adding he has inherited the unique system of symphony from Duryan.
Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan has named Namin’s works as unique.
“I appreciate highly that Stas Namin, being of Armenian origin, has recorded his album at «Abbey Road» Studios in London. performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. That is remarkable achievement and criteria. The music reveals the author’s vision of the life. Namin raises serious issues through his music and transfers to the audience”.
I think the scores that were presented to the Orchestra have been overcome both in musical and technical terms,” Maestro Smbatyan has said.
