If the behavior of Azerbaijani authorities is quite understandable, and they pursue a goal to show the world their own plan, while in Armenia, there are heated debates whether to ignore the Armenians and their activities appeared in Baku or to continue to condemn them in the strictest way, all of a sudden, it became clear that the Russian figures, moreover, not accidental people, are “defending” Azerbaijan’s “Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace.” One of the defenders was Dmitry Kiselyov, the most famous celebrity of the Russian state propaganda machine, a curator of the “Griboyedov” club was called the establishment of the Azerbaijani platform a “very good idea”, and it turned out that he “supports this platform with all his heart.”
Kiselyov expresses a persuasion to the haqqin.az that Azerbaijanis and Armenians should have passed to the solution to this problem long ago, “Any undertaking of reconciliation must be welcomed. I am very sad to see how the once-friendly nations are in the war against each other. I not only support but also welcome the establishment of this platform, and on my part, I am ready to render any assistance. I think those who want peace should support the initiatives of civil society aimed at reconciliation between Armenians and Azerbaijanis.” A few days later, another Russian politician’s position appeared in the Azerbaijani media. This time, it was Igor Morozov, the member of Foreign Affairs Committee of the RF Federal Council, who mentioned, “It is an excellent idea.”
He also explained how good it is that civil society is doing this and “if two people sit down around the table of negotiations and dialogue, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be resolved quicker.” Hence, it can be stated that Moscow defends Azerbaijan’s “Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace” for the very simple reason that they are the Russians defending it are the government, they would not make such statements without the Kremlin’s “approval”.

As to what plans Azerbaijan has with its hostilities in April and what counterblow it received, we have much talked and written about it. Months later, the Azerbaijani authorities decided to “impose peace” on Armenia with another tool. Incidentally, it should be noted that years ago, several Azerbaijanis visiting Armenia in the past and communicating with Armenians in various international programs deserved the toughest punishment of “peace-loving” Aliyev who indeed were supporters of the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and believed in the public diplomacy. The most popular ones of them were Arif and Leyla Yunus spouses, and Rauf Mirkadyrov who appear in the jail on the charges of “espionage in favor of Armenia” and later, eventually, they left Azerbaijan. The true moves of public diplomacy that were carried out before the April war if the Armenian authorities were quite relaxed about it, the Azerbaijani authorities have not only ignored them but also began a persistent and fierce fight against these people.
The Russian side did not show much interest in it. But suddenly, everything changed. Today, the picture is different in Baku in the case of “Armenia-Azerbaijan Platform for Peace”: it turns out that the Azerbaijanis in this format are “patriotic” and Armenians are “true and just”, according to Azerbaijani and Russian propaganda. In reality, however, the calculations of Aliyev regime are deeper. The toughest assessments about Armenian “participants” of the platform in Baku, the calls to physically destroy them from Armenia would be immediately presented to the international community by Baku with the following “justifications”: “Armenians have never wanted peace”, “the purpose of Armenians is war”, “look, how they want to destroy the peace wishers.”
Armenia’s goal is to put Armenia with Azerbaijan on the same scale, and presenting the freedom of speech oppressed and Armenians as militants. Therefore, the existence of those who have appeared in Baku, perhaps, the best way is to ignore and neglecting. And the fact that Russians are standing shoulder to shoulder with Azerbaijanis to Aliyev’s “peace-loving” manipulation and implement it consciously, perhaps proves the conviction that Moscow and Baku are oppressing the Armenian side jointly on Karabakh issue by operating various tools.
