The court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts declared the verdict by the famous case against the member of Founding Parliament, Gevorg Safaryan.
He was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment One year has been passed since Gevorg Safaryan is arrested. Earlier, Gevorg Safaryan said in his last speech that the RA judiciary system is reminiscent of Kafka’s “Trial”. To the question of what he expects from the court and whether it is possible for him to go home after the verdict, Gevorg Safaryan said with premonition, “I will go again to Nubarashen penitentiary facility.”
To note, Police arrested Gevorg Safaryan at Yerevan’s Freedom Square at about 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day, 2016, amid a scuffle during a public event organized by members of the New Armenia Movement, a political opposition group. The authorities charged Safaryan with using violence against the police.
