Part of the $200 million Russian loan armament has extended to Armenia, and the supply of the army is currently running, Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan told a press conference on Friday. The minister, however, declined to specify the Russian weapons at the Armed Forces arsenal.
In Minister Sargsyan’s words, the rest of the arms supply will be implemented according to the set timetable, vowing readiness to stay consistent to receive all the volumes of weaponry which, as the minister put, is aimed at the continuous augmentation of the Armed Forces with modern weaponry to ensure the army’s combat readiness
Minister Sargsyan added dialogue with the Russian side would be held to continue the program with a view of equipping the Armenian Armed Forces with super modern technologies. “We are looking for opportunities both in the Russian market and elsewhere to supply the army with necessary weapons,” stressed the minister, adding Armenia has a combat-ready army yet we should look forward and are compelled to develop ahead of the events.
