‘Moscow appreciates new prime minister’s role in process’

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s visit to Moscow even though had pronounced economic character, we saw and heard a lot economic type of agreements, however, the visit had also a hidden political component.  Today, at the “Sputnik Armenia” press club, political technologist Vigen Hakobyan referred to both economic and political components of Prime Minister’s visit to Moscow.  He noted that in the last 10 years, this was RA Prime Minister’s first official visit to Moscow.  According to the speaker, this highlighted the visit and the fact that Moscow appreciates new prime minister’s role as personality in the whole process, “All procedural conditions were preserved, the visit was also widely covered by Russian media.”

The main message of the economic component of the visit, according to the political technologist, was to secure the investments in Armenia, and the fact there will be changes in the elite.  Incidentally, yesterday, in an interview to a TV channel, Prime Minister announced that there must be a change in the elite in Armenia for it is the facades of the country and the society is discontent with the facade.  Political technologist singles out the establishment of a Russian-Armenian joint investment foundation.  He opines that as the foundation is a state-based, it gives additional guarantees.  Vigen Hakobyan considers a quite remarkable statement by Armenian businessmen as a second important factor that believing Serzh Sargsyan and Karen Karapetyan, the businessmen are ready to participate in the investment projects.

And thirdly, owner of “Tashir” company, Russia-based Armenian entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan’s statement and promise that he is going to make huge investments in Lori marz in few months.  He also highlights the importance of the agreement to facilitate the access of Russian citizens to Armenia.  Russian citizens can now on visit Armenia with their internal passports.  According to the speaker, this will bring benefits to Armenia in terms of tourism development.  Vigen Hakobyan’s impression is that Karen Karapetyan will also make similar visits to Iran and the US in the near future.
