Armenia’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies informed Panorama.am that as of 09:30 January 28, there is snow on all interstate and republican highways of Armenia. Vayk-Jermuk, Berd-Tchambarak, Jraber-Fantan roads as well as Vardenyats, Saravan passes are closed due to heavy snowstorms and low visibility.
Clear ice is observed on Geghadir, Echmiadzin, Ashtarak, Arzni-Nor Geghi, Goris-Sisian roads.
Jajur Pass, Gyumri-Kaps-Amasia, Artik-Alagyaz, Artik-Maralik, Yeghvard-Aragyugh, Nor Geghi Qarashagh roads are barely passable due to snowstorms.
Road crews maintain all-day control over all the interstate and republican highways of Armenia and carry out cleaning works with chemical salt and sand. All other interstates and republican roads of the country are open for the traffic.
The ministry recommends the drivers to drive exclusively on antiskid chains to avoid accidents and traffic jam.
