Armenia’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies told Panorama.am that as of 14:00 January 28, snowfalls are reported across all the interstate and republican highways of Armenia.
Vayk-Jermuk, Berd-Chambarak, Bagaran-Yervandashat, Jraber-Fantan highways, as well as Vardenyats and Saravan passes are shut down due to snowstorms, abundant snowfalls and low visibility.
Clear ice is observed across Geghadir, Echmiadzin, Ashtarak, Arzni-Nor Geghi, Goris-Sisian highways.
Jajur Pass, Gyumri-Kaps-Amasia, Artik-Alagyaz, Artik-Maralik, Yeghvard-Aragyugh, Nor Geghi- Karashagh highways, as well as the roads of Ashotsk region are barely passable due to snowstorms.
Blizzards are reported across Artik, Maralik, Aparan, Gavar, Vardenis, Vayk, Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor, Sisian, Meghri, Charentsavan highways and the turns of Spitak.
The road crews maintain all-day control over all the interstate and republican highways of Armenia and carry out cleaning works with chemical salt and sand.
All other interstate and republican roads of the country are open for the traffic.
The ministry recommends the drivers to drive exclusively on winter tires to avoid accidents and traffic jam.
