RPA Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov in response to journalists’ questions about the withdrawal of Hovik Abrahamyan from RPA said, “It was Hovik Abrahamyan’s decision to withdraw from the Republican Party of Armenia. Every politician, including our former party members, has the right to stay in the Republican Party or not. Did the Republican Party become weak with this withdrawal, of course, not? Is the Republican Party more united and more determined? I think, yes. Headed by the President of Armenia, we are moving forward in consolidation towards the presidential elections on April 2.” To the question of whether Mr. Sharmazanov is aware of the reason for Hovik Abrahamyan’s withdrawal from the party, Eduard Sharmazanov said, “I have read Hovik Abrahamyan’s Facebook post but I have not found any motive.” Mr. Sharmazanov said that Gagik Beglaryan had participated in the Board session but not Mher Sedrakyan. Responding to the rumors of his withdrawal from the party, Mr. Sharmazanov said, when the time comes Mher Sedrakyan will tell you about it.
