NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance does not seek a new “Cold War” with Russia, Panorama.am reports referring to RIA Novosti Russian news agency.
“We see a more energetic Russia and considerable military build-up, however, we do not see a direct threat. NATO reacted by deploying troops in the eastern part of the alliance for the first time. We do not seek confrontation with Russia, that is why we combine our strength and solid approach to launching a dialogue,” he added.
The source reminds that during the NATO summit held in Warsaw in July 2016 the alliance adopted a decision to deploy battalions in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland.
