Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutyunyan, who has been sentenced to 6 years and 9 months in prison in Russia for his involvement in fatal bus crush, has filed a motion to the Russian law enforcement officers to be transferred to Armenia. Hrachya Harutyunyan’s advocate Ruben Margaryan has announced about this during a live broadcast on the Armenian Service of the Radio Liberty.
“However it is a long-lasting process and will not be completed soon. Various state bodies are to give their consent to the petition, after which a decision will be adopted. Armenia also needs to give a consent that it is willing to accept the person,” the advocate added.
Asked whether Armenia has already given its consent, Margaryan answered: “I hope the consent has been given. This is such a scandalous case that I will be surprised to find out that Armenia has not given such a consent.”
To note, on July 13 2013, near Russia’s Podolsk Village, truck-driver Hrachya Harutyunyan in his “Kamaz” vehicle crashed into a passenger bus, as a result of which 18 people died. He was sentenced to 6 years and 9 months in prison. Pursuant to his verdict Hrachya Harutyunyan has been pleaded guilty under two articles_ violation of vehicle operation and traffic rules which causes grave consequences and usage of fake documents.
