The 9th Armenian Composers’ Art Festival entitled Haro Stepanyan – Fest will take pace in Yerevan on February 15-28 which is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Armenian composer Haro Stepanyan. Stepanyan (1897-1966) is a talented and unique composer, who greatly contributed to the development of the Armenian music culture. He has authored five operas, three symphonies, numerous songs romances, chamber instrumental works.
To note, each year the festival which is organized by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (SYOA) traditionally bears the name of one famous composer, whose anniversary is being celebrated during that year. As Panorama.am learn from the organizers, this year festival will feature five concerts, both symphony and chamber to perform new music, including Armenian and international premiers.
Works by Armenian composers Haro Stepanyan, Vache Sharafyan, Eduard Hayrapetyan, John, Ter-Tadevosyan, Harutyun Delelyan and others will be performed within the festival, the main purpose of which is the promotion of Armenian national music and the creation of strong relations between the generations.
Coordinator of Artistic issued of the Festival Sargis Balbabyan told Panorama.am that that number of works by Stepanyan, that had never been performed before, have been digitized and will be presented to the audience.
The Artistic Director of the Armenian Composers’ Art Festival is Sergey Smbatyan. The festival is being held with the support of the Ministry of Culture under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
