Vahagn Khachatryan: Elections not to bring development to Armenia

February 01,2017 08:02

A member of the “Armenian National Congress” (ANC), Vahagn Khachatryan, highly estimates the ANC chances in the upcoming parliamentary elections in April, being confident that they can overcome the transition threshold in the elections.  According to Mr. Khachatryan, the political force cannot be estimated by the results of LGU elections because it is not real, the same implies to public opinion polls, “ANC has not conducted such a poll.”

To the question that ANC is still silent despite the activation in political field, so whether it is possible for ANC to form an alliance, Mr. Khachatryan said that there is no need to hurry as their approaches are not changed, “Our emphases are the same after Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s famous speech: to establish peace, reconciliation, and good neighborly relations, this ideology is a priority for us.”

According to Vahagn Khachatryan, eventually, the capital flows where there are peace and stability.  Regarding the cooperation with other forces, Mr. Khachatryan said that so far the discussions are underway but there is still no clarity on the pre-election list.  As mentioned by Vahagn Khachatryan, the “elections are a shock”, “Expectations that the elections may give a chance and developments in terms of investments or jobs, an increase of productivity, and people’s activity, no.  Any choice in countries like ours further exacerbates the situation, further aggravates this poor situation and only after then, new elections are called.  Hence, the elections cannot be a promoting factor.”
