Committee of Ministers reviews the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights

On 7-10 March, representatives of the 47 member States of the Council of Europe held their first “Human Rights” meeting of 2017, during which they examined the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in keeping with the supervisory role of the Committee of Ministers, under Article 46 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The Decisions adopted in cases subject to more detailed examination concern Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, Turkey and Ukraine.
The Committee of Ministers also adopted Final Resolutions putting an end to its examination of cases concerning Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Slovak Republic, Spain and Turkey.
The Committee also made public the list of cases proposed for more detailed examination at its next “Human Rights” meeting that will be held from 6 to 8 June 2017. The list is purely for guidance at this stage and cases could be added or removed depending on the circumstances.
