The journalists asked Suren Karayan whether there is news about involving the foreign investors into the Armenian market, what sectors and which countries are the investors from. The minister said that the investment programs were submitted but he was reluctant to specify the organizations, “There are numerous offers in the framework of our last visit to France. 2-3 companies have already expressed interest and soon they will visit Armenia to make investments. It is mainly related to the sector of pharmaceutical and food production.”
To the question of Aravot.am whether the foreign investors are not concerned about Armenia’s closed borders, the blockade and the war, Karayan replied, “On the contrary, Armenia is attractive to foreign investors by the fact that not the borders are closed but Armenia is the platform with which the foreign investors have the chance to have an access to bigger markets, it is the market of the Eurasian Economic Union, whose member is Armenia, it is the privileged mode which we benefit, we benefit from the European Union, it is the GSP+ liberalized regime.” To our question of whether these investors are aware of the unreliability of the Upper Lars road, the minister replied, “Yes, all of them are aware of.”
