The NSS has confirmed that Samvel Babayan was arrested for the accusation of illegal import of “Igla” anti-aircraft missile complex. In an interview with Aravot.am, the member of the “Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian” alliance, Armen Martirosyan, said that his arrest is directed against their alliance. The authorities have seen that in the last one week, the people’s sympathy is especially growing towards their alliance, therefore, they try to carry out preventive measures.
To the question of how Samvel Babayan was supporting your alliance that you connect his isolation with a harm to your alliance. He replied, he has mentioned about his support a lot of times, “He was a person of reputation, he is one of the most active persons in the fight for the liberation of Artsakh, he is an army commander, therefore his words were truly very prestigious, and only his words were enough for the support.”
Armen Martirosyan excludes that Samvel Babayan wanted to organize a terrorist attack, he even derided, “It has been a few days since he was organizing. They created the basis of the campaign in order to organize a terrorist attack, now, the broom hanging on the wall fired.”
To the question of whether Samvel Babayan’s arrest may cause a chain reaction, and Seyran Ohanyan and other members of “Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian” alliance will be arrested, Armen Martirosyan replied, “I cannot exclude because the functionaries do not need any cause for making illegal acts. I myself was arrested without any reason, and currently, I am an accused under the criminal lawsuit, therefore, nothing should be excluded.”
