“This is a bilateral process and could not be ever conditioned only by the government PR,” said RPA faction MP Karen Bekaryan referring to the initialing of the Comprehensive and Exmanded Cooperation Agreement between Armenia and the EU during the discussion organized by the “Konrad Adenauer” Foundation. “There must be a final agreement on the document after the initialing. This will be followed by the signing and later the ratification process. We are dealing with the usual procedure which coincided with the campaign,” added Bekaryan.
Vice-President of the “Free Democrats” party, Anjela Khachatryan thinks that the mentioned document does not cover the economic component, “No provision is published, the document is confidential, but given the fact that we are in the EaEU, there could be no economic components in the agreement with the EU. This was mentioned by the EU officials.” PANM Board Chairman, parliamentary candidate of the “Tsarukyan” alliance, Ararat Zurabyan, noted, “A powerful country like Ukraine attempted to sign an EU Association Agreement and look what happened to it. This could also be devastating for fragile Armenia.” Parliamentary candidate of the “Armenian Renaissance” party, Mher Shahgeldyan, noted that he attaches importance to the initialing of the agreement for the modernization of the justice system and the establishment of democratic institutions.
