“I think that currently there is one force: the Congress-PPA Alliance with the Artsakh issue at the core of its campaign,” said the Head of the “Modus Vivendi” Center, Ara Papian, at the press conference held on March 28 at the “Sputnik Armenia” Press Center.
He explained, “Unfortunately, the Congress-PPA reflection is not in essence. It is an agitation concealed in the words: an agitation of peace, whose essence contains an agitation of war. Because peace is desirable for all of us, I do not think that any sensible person would ever want war, but it is offered will lead to war. It is obvious that peace is harbored not only on wishes but on the military and political balance. Today, we somehow preserve this balance, yes, with difficulty, yes, at the expense of victims, but it is a matter of a separate analysis of why it happened so, but we keep it thanks to the current positions. Handing over 5+2 regions, we make our positions more vulnerable and unprotected not only in Artsakh but in Syunik too. Plus, we psychologically enable our enemy our enemy to expect that the concession will have a continuation.”
Ara Papian noted that other political forces either briefly touch upon or address the issue as secondary. According to him, the issue of Artsakh does not have its worthy reflection in the election campaign, “For example, the ARF party that does not support the handover option, the homeland is not for sale, the homeland cannot be handed over, but we must make it clear that the RPA position, the Madrid principles, is not acceptable too. When Ter-Petrosian used to say, I am not saying anything new, I am saying what the Madrid principles are, there is truth in them. It turns out that RPA is hiding behind the ANC. The political parties must not only properly address but also reveal the positions of others.”
