“There were comments that Serzh Sargsyan is going to be a Defense Minister after 2018, but my impression is different,” said political scientist Sergey Minasyan at the “Tesaket” press club referring to the statement voiced during President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Nagorno Karabakh.
Recall that the President has said, “I don’t know what the political structure will be in 2018 but if the political force headed by me wins in the coming elections, based on the configuration of that moment, I will have my role in some capacity in the upholding the security of our people.” Sergey Minasyan noted, “I think that remaining as a head of the party or perhaps a coalition, at the same time, maintaining the leverages in the Parliament and the government, he would possibly want to lead the Security Council by preserving the leverages of the RPA leader,” noted Sergey Minasyan. He emphasized that this forecast is his own opinion rather than internal information.
