“When I say sovereignty I refer to independence and confederation status,” said the British senior associate specialized in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region, Thomas de Waal, during the discussion organized via video-call at the “Media Center” on March 29, referring to the status of Artsakh.
He noted that he does not think that in the future we will see the Nagorno-Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan, “It might be a confederation, it might be independent. But there are numerous related issues about them.” Thomas de Waal opined that Azerbaijan intends to demolish and abolish the OSCE, “It can be said that these two countries are causing serious problems for the OSCE in terms of the budget and existence. I think that much more serious political negotiations must be presented, I think President Serzh Sargsyan clearly understands it, I think that now he is waiting for the completion of the elections. The society must understand too that serious political negotiations are not a concession to Azerbaijan but the only road to the future.”
