A number of Diaspora Armenian prominent figures, including the founder and the soloist of the world-famous System of a Down band, Serj Tankian, Canadian-Armenian actress Arsine Khanjyan and film director Atom Egoyan who have come to act as observers for the Parliamentary elections on April 2, announced in the meeting with the journalists at the “Media Center” that they have no interest in these elections, they are non-partisans and do not support any political force.
“We are supporting the people,” said Serj Tankian, adding that whomever the people vote, they will back up the people, “The people’s will is important for us … it is impossible to tyrannize the will of 2.5 million people. Surely, go to the elections.” When the reporter asked the same question personally to Tankian, the musician said that he does not support any political force and then expressed his attitude by singing an extract from one of his songs.
