Baku court extends Lapshin’s prison term

April 09,2017 00:26

Pursuant to the decision of one of the courts in Baku, Azerbaijan, the prison term of Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin has been extended for another three months until 15 July, the Azerbaijani media reports citing the blogger’s advocate Edward Chernin.

He has noted that the decision was allegedly based on the necessity of conducting additional investigative operations. The defense side has objected the decision presenting its arguments.

Asked whether the court ruling is to be appealed, the advocated said that he will discuss the issue with Lapshin. Chernin also added that Lapshin has no complaints regarding the detention or his health conditions.

“The only complaint is that he does not want to be imprisoned,” the lawyer added.

To note, Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin was arrested in Minsk, Belarus for having visited Artsakh and later on was extradited to Baku.
