“Citizen Observer” initiative had applied to CEC demanding to consider the results of the parliamentary elections conducted on April 2 invalid.
“I am confident for 100% that CEC will reject our application pursuant to the respective provisions of Electoral Code, but the question is that the provisions contradict to both the Convention and the Constitution. In the polling stations where our observers’ demands have not been recorded in the registry, it is a rough violation of the observers, in this case even due to this accursed Electoral Code we have right to apply to CEC. We do that, will apply to local electoral committees as well”, told the coordinator of the “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO Daniel Ioannisyan noting that already criminal proceedings on local electoral committees are initiated due to their reports.
According to him in 30% of polling stations their observers had not been able to record their demands in the registry. To our question why only local observers complain after the elections and no political force disputed the results of the elections Daniel Ioannisyan answered: “Some of the political forces would apply if they had good evidence at hand. The elections were not free and with mass control of the voters, the electors had not been able to vote for the forces they wished to.” To our question thus whether the violations recorded by local observers and political forces were not sufficient enough to appeal Daniel Ioannisyan replied: “We were handing the violation evidence recorded by us to the forces that wanted to and they were essential violations that could have had an impact on the election results.”
