The Republican Party of Armenia deputy Vahram Mkrtchyan, who probably will not be in the next parliament, says that he would not be very happy to receive the mandate, and would not be too sad not to.
“I received a deputy mandate when I was fifty, I have lived in Armenia for fifty years, and have been involved in politics in the National Democratic Union, later in the RPA, and I have not ever connected my political activities to the membership of the parliament”, told Vahram Mkrtchyan during the interview in the parliament, adding that, of course, one acts with more confidence when expressing an opinion at the tribune in the parliament. But he does not refer to the absence from the parliament as misfortune.
He will again go in for science, as before. According to him, all the political powers and their activities were evaluated by people on April 2. He is glad that many populists did not enter the parliament. Of course, he has the opposition in view. To the question about the wealthy speechless Republicans he answers: “I cannot say anything about money, since I have not witnessed such cases. And as far as laconic or taciturn MPs are concerned, we forget something – the parliamentary activities do not encompass making a speech solely. There is a thick work – with the elector exactly. These elections showed that ranked candidates are able to have more serious contribution in votes by virtue of their direct connections with the elector.”

One of the journalists also asked whether parliamentary mandate is a serious promotional circumstance for a person to hand out lavash, money, do charity. Vahram Mkrtchyan told – regardless of everything it is good that Armenians help each other: “Whoever has helped the other has done a good job, let him not link it to anything. And if the parliament has had this order in the result of the elections, it is normal. They highlight that exactly 4 forces have passed, not more. These forces will be able to lead our country to an effective development.”
