Artavazd Bayatyan on new developing City Council: “ repetition of the same thing”

April 16,2017 09:26

On April 14 during the conference singer-composer, Artavazd Bayatyan said that artists should not endeavor to become a member of the City Council. He believes the artists who want to get there are only interested in power and leverages. The artist is not tying any hopes with the newly developing City Council. He does not consider the new Council of Elders will show democratic style: “Here everything is done through commands, sometimes some things are done, but never brought to its logical conclusion. I do not tie any hopes to all of this because it seems to me a very deep crisis, which is deepening more as time goes by”.

According to Artavazd Bayatyan’s definition: “Society tends to become whatever it represents within itself. We, be it leaders, or many people from the public, as well as artists, always speak about high and mighty things, but in the end, we have the same low-quality result. I think, that this time again it is going to be a repetition of the same thing because as far as I know people value the ideas within parties more. People are more worried about coming to power after all, than about solving any problems.”

Concerning the artists included in the City Council’s party list Artavazd Bayatyan states: “ I know names that desire sincerely to change some things, but I doubt it a bit, I do not know what will come out… You go somewhere, where there is a style, you have to work in that style. And if you do not work in that style then you cannot have any expectations… Then it would be better that people who are well prepared go there not the people that have a big desire…”
