As we reported, the recording of a pre-election meeting with SAS group workers was leaked, in which the chairman (according to some information he is the elder brother of the founder of the company Aram Sargsyan) was humiliating the workers, discussing their outer appearance like the grooming of their hair, hats that they wear, threatening, criticising, sometimes even promising a tour to the city of love, Paris, compelling the workers to bring votes in the favor of the candidate.
Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia (RA) has begun to investigate this recording. Aravot.am tried to find out from the lawyer Yervand Varosyan what elements of crime this recording has in it and with what articles of the RA legislation it is subject to filing a criminal case.
“I think what has happened needs full investigation and clarification. At first glance the presence of this apparent act provided in the RA Legislation 149 article under points 1 and 5 of the section 2 is not excluded. Particularly, this provision provides punishment for preventing the fulfillment of a citizen’s right of voting freely by threatening to cause property damage by a group of individuals. Some parts of the recording have proposals of vote-buying. Besides, it is apparent that there has been a violation of the norms of the Labor Code in the norms and principles of labor law”,- said the lawyer.
