“We should not expect new phenomena with regard to the Republic of Armenia within Turkish politics, forasmuch as Turkey has the issue – to do everything in Syria and Iraq for Kurds not to reach independence. This is the priority of their foreign policy”, told Turkologist Ruben Safrastyan during the press conference, addressing the possible developments of RA-Turkey relations in the result of the Constitutional Referendum in Turkey.
According to him, there is no sense in expecting Turkey possessing inner and external issues to make new moves within the scopes of the relations with RA: “The political elite of Turkey has a common approach towards the relations with RA. RA is not an economic priority to them.” Referring to the information implying that Turkey implements demining operations on the borders with Iran and Armenia, the expert told: “I do not think that now it bears a strategic meaning. For the future – I cannot say.”
