Parliamentary elections 2012/2017: Solely RPA and ARF secured growth

As already evident, in the result of the parliamentary elections on April 2, 4 forces entered the parliament. We have compared the results achieved by the parties participating in the parliamentary elections of 2012 and 2017.

Thus, in the past 5 years 2 parties secured growth, one of which is the ruling Republican Party of Armenia: If in 2012 the party received 664.266 votes, then in 2017 it got 770.441 votes. Despite the Prosperous Armenia Party was partaking alone in the parliamentary elections of 2012, it secured more votes than “Tsarukyan” alliance: After 5 years the votes decreased from 454.671 to 428.836. The ARF secured growth as well. If in 2012 they received 85.544 votes, the votes of 2017 were increased by 17 thousand – 103.048.

The “Heritage” party participated in these parliamentary elections with “Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian” alliance. In 2012, the “Free Democrats” party joined the “Heritage” party, but in 2017 they participated alone. However, neither the ORO alliance nor the “Heritage” party could achieve the results of the “Heritage” party in 2012. In 2012, they received 86.993 votes, while in 2017 the ORO alliance got 32.508 votes and the “Free Democrats” – 14.739 votes. Armenian National Congress received 106.901 votes in 2012, though in 2017 the votes of the “Congress-People’s Party of Armenia” alliance were reduced by about 4 times: the alliance got 25.950 votes. “Orinats Yerkir” party received 83.123 votes in 2012 and in 2017 already the “Armenian Renaissance” party got about 25 thousand votes less, registering 58.265 votes. The votes of the Communist Party of Armenia throughout these 5 years have decreased by 4.000: In 2012 the party received 15.899 votes, while in 2017, 11.741.
