A candidate for mayor of Yerevan, the leader of the party “Yerkir Tsirani” Zaruhi Postanjyan held a conference at “Erebuni” Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve after the meeting with the candidates for the Council of Elders.
According to Zaruhi Postanjyan, when the Creator created the earth and particularly the heaven, he started to create right from there, that is why they decided to give their first press conference right there. “Yerkir Tsirani” is the name of the whole Armenian highlands, we have been known for that name, the history indicates so, we are the children and the owners of Yerkir Tsirani.” She took the journalists to the cuneiform inscriptions, where there is the inscription on the foundation of Yerevan. She recalled that Yerevan is 2799 years old and we should live appropriate and dignified to our history.
Zaruhi Postanjyan said: “We, as a transboundary nation, are going to involve the whole potential of our nation into political activity not only for charity or other purposes but also in order to be able to present our political claim not only in Armenia but also outside the borders. She said that prior to the municipal elections they held their first conference right there, on the territory of Erebuni Fortress, where the museum is located, as the passport of Yerevan is maintained there too: “Right under this passport, which is placed here, we want to start the launch of our political expected event.”
She read and deciphered the cuneiform inscription, according to which Argishti, the son of Menua built this impregnable fortress and named it Erebuni. On top of the museum she drew journalists’ attention to today’s Yerevan: “Do you see what areas Yerevan has? Are they green? Whether it is like the city which Tamanian has drawn for us? Of course, it is not so, it is painful, but during these 25 years Yerevan’s green areas have disappeared and the city has turned into buildings solely, we are not able to live in an ecologically clean city.” Zaruhi Postanjyan said that their slogan and election program will be published on May 21, on the day of the campaign’s start. She said that the Republican Party is their main target in this election. “We come to simply remove them from this political arena, as we consider that they have failed, and their long-term tenure has just been devastating for Armenia and for Yerevan city.”
