“We have just come out of the stage of promises, and now are we entering a new one? They have nothing to do with the reality. Well, let them present on what financial resources they will be done”, said former Mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Khachatryan during the interview with Aravot.am referring to the program of ruling Republican Party of Armenia in the Yerevan Council elections. Vahagn Khachatryan, at least, does not see any ground in the pre-election program of the Republican Party.
“If they could do it, they should have done it until now, why have they not done it?”In response to Aravot.am’s question whether the city has the appropriate budget to implement the Republican Party’s published program if desired, our interviewee responded: “No. Neither the city nor the state has. And there are also no investors. By what means will they do, can they tell me? All this is just a wish. Let us consider their wishes four years ago, do they come to reality? These wishes will remain on paper too. The previous promises are the same shape, the same level and there is no change because there is not a change in these people’s mentality either. If they wanted to solve transportation problem they could have solved it a long time ago. There is no need to build districts. Yerevan does not need it. Yerevan needs green clearness and normal living environment for people who do not exist. They should think what to do to make crows reduce and the number of trees increases. They need a will which does not exist.”
In response to the review that in the program as an achievement in a four-year governance Taron Margaryan mentioned that trees are planted, the yards are landscaped and improved, roofs and elevators are being renovated and so on, our interviewee reversed: “They want a Yerevan from concrete, asphalt and with spaces belonging to them. Could Taron Margaryan say how many roofs and elevators have been left unrenovated? They know very well that a person’s life going up every day with elevator is in danger. The city has a lot of problems, which is not mentioned. At least they should pay attention to the appearance. Now I am in Abovyan Street, they planted trees and should look at these trees. Let them look at the old trees and those planted by them. Why do they plant those trees? I see they have made some excessive spendings, implemented projects which do not benefit the citizen of Yerevan.”
