We are releasing balloons every year, ordering decorations to celebrate the 2800th anniversary of the establishment of Yerevan, but every year a 100-year-old building is destroyed in Yerevan. There is a lot to be done on such issues”: said a City Council candidate nominated by “Yelq” bloc Alen Simonyan. Note that Yerevan mayoral election campaign kicked off today.
Alen Simonyan said, that some of their priority issues are those of transportation, urbanization and healthcare industry changes: “It is time to call things by their name. Representatives of the governing party refuse to debate because they have nothing to say and rely on using administrative resources again and they are neither ready nor able to debate. Today, people in Yerevan will again witness mere contacts with district authorities and balloon releases, see the candidate wave and leave, as we did during the parliamentary elections when the Republican candidates hardly ever emerged.
Later on, we see some MPs in the National Assembly, who give no speech at all. These people speak neither during the campaign nor in the parliament, not even in their term of office”, said “Yelq” bloc City Council candidate. In his opinion, the elections will be strained again, they will bribe the voters too: “There will be vote-buying, but not as much as during the parliamentary elections. They will do their best to use more of administrative resources.”
