Nikol Pashinyan: ‘Neither Turkey’s nor Armenia’s position to change’

April 25,2017 08:35

“In this regard, we should not give an assessment, which has nothing to do with reality”, said Nikol Pashinyan, one of the leaders of “Yelq” bloc, in response to the question what perspective  the Armenian-Turkish relations awaits after the policy Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan conducts especially on the background of the recent constitutional reforms in Turkey, which actually leads Turkey to an authoritarian system.  A while ago members of “Yelq” bloc visited Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the victims of Armenian Genocide, 1915, led by Nikol Pashinyan, Aram Sargsyan and Edmon Marukyan.

“I think the current events in Turkey will not affect Turkey’s position in the Armenian-Turkish relations. I believe that Armenia’s position has not changed in that sense too”, said Nikol Pashinyan. In response to the question – whether the signature of Armenia under the Armenian–Turkish unfortunate protocols is not meaningless after failed attempts to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations and in the background of more toughening position of Turkey, and why Serzh Sargsyan does not go recalling that signature, Nikol Pashinyan said that he does not want to comment on Serzh Sargsyan’s policy in that realm.
