One of the leaders of “Yelq” bloc, the president of “Republic” party Aram Sargsyan, after the 100th commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, told journalists he did not see any change in the policy that Armenian authorities conduct relative to the claim.
Recall, that the events of the 100th commemoration of the Genocide took place under “I Remember and Demand” slogan. “I generally am of the opinion that we – as people have both losses and achievements, victories as well, and now – when we possess state and statehood, have not made conclusions from it. Forasmuch as if we made conclusions, we would understand that the first and foremost guarantors and providers of our security are we ourselves – by virtue of our army, and would not rely on others’ Iskandars and I do not know what else and would not feel proud of it”: told Aram Sargsyan.
In his opinion we should have seen the plain reality that Armenia does not have alternatives other than being an island of democracy: “One cannot hate one’s own people so much as to vote for 10.000 AMD, one cannot conduct March 1s and fire attack one’s own people, one’s own authority does not worth to take the country to this state.”
Aram Sargsyan thinks that the best way to pay tribute to the martyrs or the victims of the war overall is to have a strong state, a thing which we do not have, according to him.
