The British delegate of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council (PACE) Robert Walter has stated: “Throughout 2 years it was not possible to organize my visit to Yerevan: unceasingly both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the parliament gave reasons as if at that moment the visit was not convenient and would organize it during 6 months. So, we did not cooperate.”
On this occasion, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Balayan gave an explanation. He told: “He is a parliamentary format figure, therefore he should have applied to the National Assembly. I think the parliamentarians can give complete answers to that question.” Recall, that Robert Walter is the author of the disputed report entitled “Violence Increase in Nagorno-Karabakh and other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan”, which was declined by the PACE. And he was being criticized back then as an Azerbaijani lobbyist and as if he was bribed by Aliyev’s regime.
We mentioned that Robert Walter says that “he thought he was Edward Nalbandian’s best friend, he had even had dinner at his place.” Tigran Balayan responded citing from a Russian movie: “There is a very good proverb in one of the Russian movies – Tambov wolf is your friend (тамбовский волк тебе товарищ).”
