On April 25 to 26, a regional conference entitled “Sustainable development in the region of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)” and the jubilee session of the Economic Commission for Europe, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UNECE and entitled “Economic integration and cooperation towards 2030“ took place in Geneva. Ashot Hovakimyan, Deputy Foreign MInister, delivered a speech at the high-level segment of the session.
Deputy Minister Hovakimyan noted, in particular, that the UN Economic Commission for Europe throughout its work has played a major role in the economic development of the region. Deputy Minister Hovakimyan mentioned that the UNECE, guided by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, fosters the strengthening of cooperation both among the European states and with other countries as well.
Ashot Hovakimyan further informed, that the Government of Armenia has reviewed the poverty reduction strategy, targeting the development of human capital, increasing of employment level, improvement of social security system and institutional adaptation of public administration
