Aravot.am asked Taron Margaryan a question with reference to criticism on the pre-election project of the Republican Party of Armenia voiced by former Yerevan mayor Vahagn Khachatryan. Saying that we turn from one phase of the promises to another, Vahagn Khachatryan had noticed: “Let them represent by what financial means they will be done.”
Referring to the provision of the project on “Old Yerevan” reconstruction, he had told that Yerevan does not have that much budget. Vahagn Khachatryan had also hesitated on what Taron Margaryan and the RPA team disturbs to implement what is written, for instance – the improvements of the public transport, etc.
Taron Margaryan told that to accomplish “Old Yerevan” project they have to simply create an opportunity for implementing it via private investors. “These are not Soviet years for municipal authorities, the state to build districts. The Private sector should be given all chances”, he told, calling on the investors to be active. He told that the project is already launched. Recall, that project requires, as announced, 100 million USD investment. Taron Margaryan told that we have Armenians within the diaspora having expressed their willingness to make investments. Certain earthwork has been already done. Taron Margaryan did not reveal the name of the investor.
Let us remind you that back at those times the name of the owner of “Franck Muller” famous brand, French-Armenian entrepreneur Vardan Sirmakes was circulating within the government. “If our partners took the control over the public transport sector those times onwards, and did not criticize today, we would have had proper transport”, told Taron Margaryan adding that during the previous 5 years they have attempted to give a temporary solution but have not succeeded. “When we were announcing that we are going to stand before crisis regarding public transport sector, our opponents were saying – people, the municipal government threatens. Today we see the daily worsening public transport”, he told, assuring that they have not stood idly and there is a success: “We have an advisor who will represent a comprehensive package in June and we will be able to give an ultimate solution.” Asked whether he implicates that the price would increase alike, Taron Margaryan replied: “We will pass to a single ticket. The understanding of line owner will be in place no more, there will be one operator. We do not speak of the increase of prices, the advisor should represent.”
