As reported earlier, Azerbaijan has recently received a new batch of Russian modern military equipment, which OSCE Minsk Group co-chair-state Russia delivers to Azerbaijan within the framework of the agreement on technical military cooperation signed in 2003.
“There is an unwritten rule that applies to all mediator missions: not to take steps that would give an advantage to any party”, said the RA first ombudsman, a human rights activist Larisa Alaverdyan during the interview to Aravot.am.
She noticed, “Russia says, “there is no written rule, and we will continue our business with Azerbaijan, but we will not put Armenia into an unfavorable situation.” This means the Russian Federation will sell weapon to one side, then to the other side.”
According to her, regardless the latter, nevertheless, more and more weapons are being accumulated in the region. “No matter whom you give a weapon, you create a premise, which makes the situation in the region even tenser”, says Mrs. Alaverdyan.
