The Armenian representation of “Gallup International” association has made an inquiry ahead of Yerevan municipal elections, pursuant to which Taron Margaryan acquires 61.2 % votes, Nikol Pashinyan – 11.5 %, Zaruhi Postanjyan – 3.9 %.
“Yelq” bloc municipal candidate Alen Simonyan made a reference to the aforementioned: “I think that they have made a mistake in here, they have written the opposite. They have mistaken Taron Margaryan’s and Nikol’s votes, I believe, a technical mistake has occurred”, joked Alen Simonyan. According to him, it is a nonsense, how can they see, that in Yerevan they have received 15 %, conduct an inquiry and find out that 11 % will vote in favor of them?: “Factually we have received 15 and they conduct an inquiry and write 11%? How serious should we treat it now?”
As reported by Alen Simonyan, to believe in these inquiries is difficult, forasmuch as firstly, the atmosphere of our country is so that people oftentimes do not say who they intend to vote for during the inquiries, they are afraid, remain silent: “They do not tell, are afraid or tell the opposite to remain aside of trouble. All are very well conscious that people predominantly make a decision during the last week, few hours prior to the elections, frequently even in the polling station.”
Political technologist Karen Kocharyan had stated his opinion implying that “Yelq” will receive 20-25 % votes. Asked whether Mr. Simonyan expected more than 25%, he replied: “We consider that we will receive at least 40-45% votes.”
