May 04,2017 17:31

According to Edmon Marukyan, a member of Parliament, “mandate fight in Prosperous Armenia party has two sides. Pursuant to him, those people who now complain that they did not submit applications about giving up their mandate, has already agreed to the game rules, and now they refuse.

“Actually they were forced to give up the mandates. These people maybe have gone and submitted applications earlier before the elections, have confirmed it by the notary and have sent to Central Electoral Commission. Now they are protecting their rights, but maybe they should refuse when they were forced to sign, protect their rights at that time. Isn’t it clear that if they announced at that time they won’t be included on the list,” said MP.

He also noted that when the majoritarian electoral system was being criticized, they reasoned that proportionate voting system is better, he was reminding that in the case of the proportionate voting system the party leaders decide who is going to be a member of parliament.

Note that 23 elected members of parliament of “Tsarukyan” alliance submitted applications to give up their mandates. But later 12 of them announced that they have not submitted those applications.
