Tensions increased at the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan on May 6, 7 and overnight to May 8. As defense ministry of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic reports, Azerbaijani forces breached the ceasefire around 160 times, firing more than 2,600 shots toward the Armenian position from weapons of different calibers. Apart from firearms, the Azerbaijani forces applied 60mm mortars (7 shells) and automatic grenade launcher (7 shells) in the eastern direction of the Line of Contact on May 7.
Defense Army frontline units continue exercising total control on the frontline and confidently carrying out their combat duty, the release said, adding the situation on the frontline was calm as of Monday 10 a.m.
