PM introduced to Vayots Dzor and Armavir Marz community development programs

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan chaired a consultative meeting to discuss the best five-year development programs submitted from Armavir and Vayots Dzor Marz communities.

The following projects were presented to the Prime Minister: construction of a hothouse and waste recycling plant, development of horticultural facilities, production of sparkling wine, establishment of a concentrates and complex food production factory, etc.

The community leaders also discussed plans to increase community revenues and the planned steps in this direction. Among other projects, the Deputy Mayor of Armavir presented plans a waste processing plant project, noting that the draft is prepared. With total value of 65.0 million euros, the project will be implemented in 3 phases. The first phase is expected to create 70 new jobs. The plant will receive 200 thousand tons of garbage a year. The Prime Minister asked who was supposed to be responsible for waste management in Armavir, Governor Ashot Ghahramanyan reported that following preliminary discussions an agreement had been reached that the company in charge of the plant would provide for the process of waste disposal.

Highlighting various municipal services, including waste management, private management, the Prime Minister instructed to be consistent in this matter. As for the project of concentrates and canned food production, it was reported that it is planned to establish a vegetable and fruit processing complex plant on the site of the former canning factory in Armavir, which will produce tomato paste, fruit and vegetable other concentrates, fruit, berry and vegetable canned food.

The total project cost is AMD 1,150.000.000. 120 jobs will be created to produce 1,000-1,500 tons of tomato paste. AMD 400,000.000 will be available from local resources. The remaining amount will come from borrowed funds. The Premier urged to continue negotiations with the banks, with the Government to support them in this process.

Among the programs submitted by Karakert community of Armavir Marz, the meeting discussed the program of horticultural entity through the establishment of vineyards and orchards. It was noted that 1.5 hectares of arable land privatized at the expense of own funds of credit has been reduced to 50 hectares, 30 hectares of vineyards were planted on 20 hectares of apricot orchards. A 4 km-long internal irrigation system has been set up, which reduced to 5-10% the average of 47% in irrigation water losses. The total value of the project is AMD 251 million, of which 220 million will be made up of in-kind / private investments. The balance if AMD 31 million is expected to come from the Government. The project is expected to create 15 new jobs annually and produce 380 tons of grapes and 100 tons of apricots.

Highlighting the program, the Prime Minister said he will discuss the possibility of financing the project. Karen Karapetyan also instructed those responsible to get familiarized with the frmd irrigation system and study its effectiveness.

The leader of Khachik community of Vayots Dzor Marz presenting several projects in different sectors, specifically referred to the production of sparkling wine, noting that the total cost is AMD 150 million: 82.5 million drams in own resources, 67.5 million in government lending.

It is expected to produce 150,000 kg of grapes annually and 100,000 liters of sparkling wine. The Prime Minister instructed to explore the possibilities for lending and submit recommendations.
