An excerpt from the interview with the Ambassador of Russian Federation to The Republic of Armenia Ivan Volinkin.
– On what level, you think, are the relationships between Russia and Armenia today and how will they be developed, if Armenia deepens his connections with EU?
-The relationships between Armenia and Russia are on the highest level and I’ll not get tired of repeating that those relationships are a good example for other countries. We’ve reached this thanks to our grandfathers and grand-grandfathers, who have always contributed to the consolidation of those connections, which have formed a mutual respect and understanding. Today our task is to pass that “capital” to the generations.
Of course, the two presidents of our countries have their important role in forming that kind of high level. During the years of my position as an ambassador, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin has visited Armenia 3 times, Dmitri Medvedev twice, and I’m not even counting the visits of the senior government officials.
As to deepening the connections between Armenia and EU, I don’t think there is anything unnatural there. Every country that is a part of the Eurasian Union and CSTO, has certain responsibilities toward other countries. Other relations are not made to harm the allied countries.
