On the voting day, the president of the ‘Yerkir Tsirani’ Zaruhi Postanjyan announced that they need to create a resistance front and if the authorities do not want to leave in a liberal way, then they will choose another way and take them all to prison.
‘Aravot’ asked the deputy of ‘Yelq’ Edmon Maruqyan whether he sees a possibility for that in Armenia and he answered: “Zaruhi Postanjyan had better have a proxy at 470 poll office. So we are coming back and facing the problems of the old opposition again. If you don’t have a proxy at 470 poll office and ‘Yelq’ alliance has to also keep your votes, and then what rebellion or resistance front are you talking about? Let them resist, there is not a problem with that, I welcome it.”
To the question whether he’s against taking power with force, Edmon Maruqyan answered: ‘The power taken with force, will be ruined by power itself. The power taken by force can not have the human rights, rule of law and the ideology of democracy in its roots. ‘Yelq’ alliance is based on the human values.”
